Q. Why can Kumagaya grow fine vegetables ?

A. One of the reasons why Kumagaya can grow fine vegetables is because of its location. There are two big rivers named Tone River and Arakawa River in Saitama and Kumagaya is in between where two rivers are the closest to each other in the inland. That gives the land nutrient-rich water and soil for the land.

Q.  Where is Kumagaya ?

A. Kumagaya is in the northern part of Saitama next to Tokyo. You can come to Kumagaya, both by train and by car, from Tokyo. It takes around 1.0-1.5h. Kumagaya station has the JR train line, shinkansen (JR bullet train) and Chichibu train line. The nearest highway exit is Higashi-matsuyama or Musashi-ranzan on the Kanetsu Highway.

Megumi HIGANO

Calls herself a fake vegetarian, but is actually a pescetarian. Loves sushi too much to be a strict vegetarian. Not a big fan of meat since she was a child, so she quickly stopped eating meat after she got introduced to yoga in 2005. Resets herself when she doesn't like her eating habit. Trying to support organic farmers by eating vegetables that they grow.

Comomi OKUGAWA (aka Moco)

Started Bakery CoCo Farm in Kumagaya and making vegan/gluten free bread and sweets etc using rice flour only. She met her Macrobiotics teacher in aound 2007. Since then she has been learning more about human well-being and food. Tries to be happily excited all the time.

Mikiko YAMADA (aka Madam YAMADA)

Opened an organic vegetable source cafe restaurant in Yorii-machi (near Kuamgaya). Was introduced to the thought of Macrobiotics in around 2008, and now has  her own motto "fine balance" through trial an error with twists and turns. Love fasting.

Mizuki YAMADA

Has a body that responds sensitively to substances which are not good for his body. He eats meal once a day since around 2016. As a result of seeking non-harmful foods for his body, with his wife Mikiko, he found out vegan style is the best way. He has been growing about 50 kinds of citrus fruits, without agricultural chemicals, fertilizer of herbicide, as a hobby.

Special thanks to Kazumi who is an actress/narrator/photographer from Kumagaya for cute illustrations of the vegan map !
